The Word of God

How many sermons have I missed? I’ve lost count of the Sundays spent behind an audio console, mixing worship and making sure everything runs smoothly. Today, I was reading in James 1:22: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

It made me think – how can we, as audio, lighting, and video operators, be doers of the Word when we’re often too busy to truly listen? Sometimes our responsibilities keep us focused on fixing problems, or we find ourselves tuning out after hours of rehearsals and services.

But James reminds us that hearing isn’t enough – we’re called to action. So maybe that means listening back to the sermon recording later in the week or making space to engage with God’s Word on our own time. Whatever it looks like, let’s remember to be both hearers and doers, tuning into God’s voice in every season. 🎚️
